Koiya

This is a series of T-shirts featuring auspicious Japanese patterns with koinobori motif. Koinobori is considered a fortunate symbol in Japan.

“If Utagawa Kunimasa (the famed ukiyoe artist) had painted koinobori.” Thw character 昇 means rising and the other one 鯉 means carp. The pronunciation of the world 昇鯉 is same as 勝利(=success, victory) in Japanese, so the meaning of this word is auspicious.
